RYEDALE VINEYARDS

Ryedale Vineyards is one of the most northerly commercial vineyards in the United Kingdom and is a family run business in the fair county of North Yorkshire, at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds. We were voted one of the 12 best vineyards to visit and tour in England and Wales in 2019 and regularly win awards for our wines. All aspects of wine production from pruning to harvesting to pressing, fermenting, bottling and labelling are carried out by hand in our converted cow byre. We have 14000 vines over 13 acres and we are expanding all the time with new planting to keep up with demand. At present we produce around 8000 bottles of wine and 3000 litres of cider. We grow 16 varieties of grapes including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Bacchus. The grapes with their different characteristics are blended to produce our wines to give either dry, off dry or predominantly mineral, fruity wines. We are very proud that our Strickland red wine won a 2020 silver medal at a national wine competition. We have adopted a low spray approach which benefits the environment, wildlife and birdlife. The heritage apple trees around the vineyard are all used in our cider and pressed by hand. Both the vines and trees are all managed by our family, Jon and Michelle and our two sons plus invaluable help from our part time employee.
