Discover an astonishing and gourmet Champagne, made from 100% Pinot Blanc fruit: Champagne Petit-Camusat.
The Petit-Camusat family are growers and Champagne producers with a fourth generation who have been at the helm for twenty years. They are leading the re-discovery of Pinot Blanc, which is an exciting grape variety.
Frédéric and Evelyne Petit-Camusat exclusively cultivate this grape variety, which is almost extinct in Champagne.
The vineyards are planted on the coast of the Bar, near Essoyes, producing a remarkably fruity and quenching cuvée. The Pinot Blanc grapes, once ripe, are vinified in the cellars of a former rectory in Noah les Mallets at Petit Camusat.
As one of the rare grape varieties, from ancestral times, Pinot Blanc speaks volumes about the history of Champagne. For the past few decades, this grape has made a name for itself in rare and original vintages. It is a forgotten grape variety, planted in Champagne before phylloxera, and has generated renewed interest from houses and winemakers anxious to reconnect with the taste of yesteryear. Pinot Blanc is only planted in 100 hectares of the Champagne appellation, making it truly special.
The tiny bubble finesse is beautiful, and this Champagne shows an attractive intensity of toasty aromas. On the palate, there are apricots and jasmine flavours abound, followed by a creamy brioche baked lusciousness. There is a lovely acidity level in abundance. The fruity spirit dominates with a velvety, balanced finish. This Blanc de Blancs is a traditional classic of the Old School.
